This Weekend - Sept 6-8, 2025
We’re holding our first Letta hackathon around the topic of personality design. If you’ve spent any meaningful time with Letta agents or language models, you’ll know that it’s difficult to make an agent worth talking to.
In this creativity challenge you’ll attempt to build the best agent across three categories. You may submit one agent per category, for a total of three submissions. You’ll have 48 hours to submit.
Prizes
Winners for each category will be awarded a prize worth $250, Letta swag, and Letta Cloud credits!
The Challenge
We want you to build the best agent across three categories:
CATEGORY 1: Most Creative
Design an agent that’s interesting, striking, novel, creative, or otherwise distinct. Reviewers should talk to your agent and come away thinking it’s unique and interesting. You may also choose to build an agent that can one-shot you into AI psychosis (but not really).
Some general characteristics you may be judged on:
- Distinct character voice - you can tell that the agent is distinct, not a generic language model
- Curiosity-inspiring - makes you want to keep talking and discover more
- Emotional resonance - creates genuine connection or intrigue
- Unique perspective - sees the world through their own lens
- Interesting architecture - your agent may creatively apply custom tools or memory architecture
If you want to build a social agent like Void, you can find the code to spin one up publicly here. I’ll be online to help guide you through social agent setup.
CATEGORY 2: Funniest
Agents that make people genuinely laugh through humor, wit, or delightful absurdity:
- Comedic timing - knows when and how to be funny
- Consistent humor style - dry wit, absurdist, observational, etc.
- Contextual comedy - responds to situations with appropriate humor
- Memorable quotes - generates lines people want to share
Making language models funny is hard, but we believe in you.
CATEGORY 3: Most Useful
Agents that are genuinely helpful AND not insanely annoying:
- Actually solves problems - provides real value, not just generic responses
- Pleasant to interact with - useful without being boring or robotic
- Contextual assistance - remembers your needs and preferences
- Efficient communication - gets things done without friction
Consider using our Zapier integration to connect your agent to external information sources and data flows!
